Zinc and Rock!! What’s the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear such a name?? Some hard rock pub??? Not really. But it’s the most happening place in Trivandrum. Zinc n Rock is a multi cuisine restaurant in Trivandrum. As its name suggests zinc rock is a music themed hangout place with some good food and peaceful ambience. Music themed is not just some music playing in the background but can enjoy some real live music with your dinner. The whole place is decorated with all kinds of musical instruments. A spanking new Drum set is on one corner of the place. Old vinyl records also add to the theme.
It’s so hard to believe the way they have managed to keep the colour theme. Its red and blacks everywhere. The walls, chairs, lounge, flour cushioned floor sitting, salt and pepper bottles and even the fish in the tank is red and black! Another excitement for the net savvies are that they are coming up with a free Wifi spot in the restaurant!
The menu is intriguing as the dishes have names related to music such as Fried Chicken and Cheese Clarinet (an appetizer), The Tambourine (an omelette), Croissant Chorale (a sandwich), Sunrise Singers (a mocktail), Chamber Music (a smoothie) and Humty Dumty popcorn (on the Kiddies menu) and varieties of soups, salads, Indian, Italian & Chinese dishes, burgers & sandwiches, desserts and much more. on August 1st, 2010Went there yesterday.
along with regional hits from a “Creative” speaker, the type I have on my PC.
It was mostly empty when we came in. The ambience is good with just red and black as the theme colours.
My biggest surprise came when the waiter gave me a list containing all the dishes and asked me to tick whatever I want. Can’t he even wait and take down the order??. (The waiters gave the impression that they are incompetent)
We started with some starters and soup.
The quantity of food for the price we paid is really less and I frankly found it to be a ripoff. There was no live band playing as well. The NZ/India match was on
We thought of having Kerala porotta and some chinese dishes for the main course. There was no porotta available. Thats one thing I always hate. Keeping something on the menu and it not being there.
We finally ordered Chicken Fried Rice along with Chilly Chicken.
My brother ordered a burger, which was pretty decent.
Food was decent, but definitely not worth the price.
Had it been a pub, with all those jazzy settings and some real rock music, it would have lived up to its name.
Verdict : Overpriced. Maybe its picking up, but a long way to go.

Hyderabadi Hara Chicken Biryani is must have one. Its simply superb. Extreme Profitable via money, taste and ofcourse tummy-wise. Spicy lovers too would enjoy it.
I had it with Green tinkles and can’t wait to shout ” Simple and Superb lunch within your pocket ”
Couldn’t take a pic bcz was really busy in enjoying it.
And also need to mention ” A restaurant with free wifi accessibility ” which makes hanging out here more delicious tech-wise.
