Award-winning German film Warchild (2006), directed by Christian Wagner with Macedonian actress Labina Mitevska in the lead role, to be screened on Saturday. Entry is free but restricted to prior reservation.
Warchild has won numerous awards, including the Bavarian Film Award (Special Jury Prize), Best Screenplay Montreal 2006, Audience Award Portoroz and the Golden Olive Tree & Special Audience Award 2007. This family drama goes behind the scenes of Europe’s recent turbulent past in this tense plot to capture the haunting memories of war. Set in Sarajevo in 2005, the movie begins at a time when the war has ended many years ago. The movie is about a despairing mother whose daughter has been listed as missing for ten years, but she has not yet give up hope. The movie is being screened under the aegis of the German Film Club at the Goethe Zentrum, Thiruvananthapuram.
