Volvo Rolls out on Trivandrum Turf

Eight low floor A.C Vovlo buses will begin servicing the city of Trivandrum from 18-11-09 (Wednesday). The buses were flagged off by chief minister V.S.Achutanandan from the stadium on Tuesday. Minister of State for External Affairs Dr.Sashi Tharoor was the chief guest. The 8 buses will interconnect Kizhekekotta, Sanghumugham, Museum,Kowdiar, Technopark,Keltron, Airport, Medical College and Kaniyapuram.
The base fare is fixed at Rupees 10 for the first 5 km. With the addition of Rs 1.5 for every extra kilometere. The buses have been introduced under THr JNUR Scheme of which 30 A.C. Volvo busess and 120 non A.C buses are to be introduced for commuters in the city. The major cost will be borne by the Central Government while the rest is to be pooled by the state and the K.S.R.T.C.
