The much awaited world class terminal at Trivandrum International airport is all set to take off. The construction of the world class terminal which can accommodate 800 passengers with 30 check-in counters, 18 immigration counters, 3 security check-in units and 4 escalators is almost complete.
The construction cost of the terminal was estimated to be 289 crores. The new terminal is fully air-conditioned with wi-fi facility. Airport authorities are waiting for the convenience of Prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to set the inauguration date. Here are some pictures of the interior of the wordclass terminal of Trivandrum International Airport. Photo Credit goes to Vivek S a member of the skyscrapercity forum.
This massive terminal is going to be matter of pride for all Trivandrumites…

Since the Wifi provision is given here, we can hope that some laptop terminals also will be placed inside in suitable locations as is usually done in leading Int Airports.
on May 19th, 2010Awesome picts…
Terminal 3 which was supposed to be open to public by April 2010 is finally getting inaugurated ! “30 check-in counters, 18 immigration counters, 3 security check-in units, 4 escalators & fully air-conditioned with wi-fi facility”- way too good compared to current facilities.
Hope to have more international flights from “Thiruvananthapuram International Airport”, maintaining the international standards in the long way run too.
on May 19th, 2010all the best mahi……
on May 20th, 2010All the good wishes to the new Trivandrum International Airport. It is really good to see my Trivandrum growing. Authorities should check that the servcies are upto the mark like cleanliness, security, etc…. More flights should be allowed to transit through Trivandrum. The authorities should also waive off the user development fee imposed on foreign fliers to have more ease on passengers. More plants and orchids should be palnted inside the airport.More duty free shops with good collection of materials & good cafeteria’s should be added with resonable price.More assistance/facilities should be given for small childrens, patients and elderly.
on May 21st, 2010Thanks for publishing the beautiful photograph of new Trivandrum Airport Terminal, Also thanks to Mr.Vivek S, for taking the photos. I will be traveling Trivandrum during this Onam season, and I am really proud to travel through this new terminal.
on May 26th, 2010when will the new terminal 3 open. the PM has time to got JK for few days, why can’t he make couple of hour for TRV’ s terminal 3.
on June 9th, 2010when will the new terminal 3 open its door to passenger. PM has time to got to JK and he can’t spare couple of hours for the opening of terminal 3 at TRV
on June 9th, 2010Very exquisite photos of the new terminal which resembles very much to the Dubai airport. Wi-fi facility is someone the passengers are looking for and it is here in our airport. Being a Trivandrum native I love to hear any new venture coming in Trivandrum. All the best for our terminal.
on June 10th, 2010Amazing Pictures we are waiting for the opening date………. Thank you… all the authorities to construct such beautiful airport in trivandrum………
on June 23rd, 2010At last, the much awaited T3 is being inaugurated. Now, more international flights should be scheduled. In order to ensure capacity utilization, connection with other airports in India shall be considered. It is important that user’s fee is much reduced or completely done away with, as otherwise, Tvm will lose to Cochin airport. Another item in the priority is national highway development, expecially from the Kanyakumari side to TVM, in order to attract more passengers
on July 1st, 2010All the good wishes to the thiruvananthapuram international airport,,,,,More flights should be allowed to transist through thiruvananthapuram,,,,,Hope to have more flights from thiruvananthapuram to sharjah sector ,,,,,,,,,,But one request ,,,PLEASE REMOVE THE USERSFEE ,,,,GANESH SHARJAH[UAE]
on July 3rd, 2010Kerala Tourism Board and the current Kerala Government should lobby for more international flights from Europe and beyond. At present the middle eastern carriers have 100% market share for all international passengers arriving from USA and Europe. Kingfisher Airlines should start direct flights now that they have abandoned international flights from their own hub Bengaluru moving them to both Bombay and Delhi following the footsteps of Maharaja! Why is there no fan fair or much information on the web about this new terminal? Trivandrum Airport does even have its own website unlike Bengaluru which has developed a well informed site, since the opening of the airport. Surely the airport authority can employ a team from the near by Techno Park! I am sadden that I will not be using this new Terminal on my next time, for me Bengaluru still offer me the most direct flights from London with a short hop on Kingfisher to Terminal 1 Trivandrum.
on July 5th, 2010hai!
A dream of Keralites come true. We can land in an Airport with international facilities. Eventhough we have to pay a users fee in the beginning, this Terminal is a blessing for the NRIs and those who travel abroad.
All Keralites are proud of having such an Airport in Kerala with a beautiful terminal and all Indians should be proud of having such an airport in India. From the photos it is looking like Dubai Airport. Ho.. I am in a hurry to see it by landing in this terminal soon. Thanks to all those who worked behind this project.
on July 17th, 2010sucks for the international passenger due to UDF
on August 2nd, 2010Its sad to see the bickerings of those in power on a trivial issue as to who should inaugurate the third terminal of Trivandrum International Airport. We hope it can happen before August ends and not in October. They behave as if the airport was built by their private contractors. Idealrightly it should be opened by Praful Patel –Minister for Civil Aviation.
on August 9th, 2010Even as the airport is opened, will the authorities open their eyes to the reality of issuing landing rights to other major airlines asking for such rights in Trivandrum? This could only result in extra mileage for this beautiful airport. Or is it reserved only for KARI POOR OR KOCH (I) or even the yet to be born Kannu (r) airport?
Arise Trivandrumites, this is OUR RIGHT!!!
I wish our State Government and the Central Government will clear their difference and Inaugurate the New Terminal at the earliest. Why should the passengers suffer, first stop egoism between on each other. Look at Hydrabad, Bangalore and now New Delhi Terminals, all opened on time.
on August 10th, 2010HOW many new flights are opening to trivandrum new international airport ,,how many aditional flights are opening to TRIVANDRUM SHARJAH SECTOR,,,,,,,,,,,,,”I LOVE THIRUVANANTHAPURAM”,”I WILL PROUD MY THIRUVANANTHAPURAM”
on September 23rd, 2010When will the airport be opened?
on December 19th, 2010Can anybody here give me the distance between Vizhinjam, Kovalam and Airport — I am looking at the crow flying distance?
on December 26th, 2010I am reading your Web site articles for almost 1-year. For the last 6-7 months your article is saying that “Trivandrum International Airport T3 will be inaugurated soon”. When will this new Terminal be opened is the question to ask. All our ministers are showing interest to develop Kochi and Kozikode airport, and in the mean time they are in a hurry to build a new Airport in Kanoor. What is happening in our State Capital Airport ???
on December 26th, 2010I agree with Benoy G’s comments. It looks like the politicians are only intrested in other districts except Trivandrum. I think you should take away the heading of this article and change it to ” Long waiting for the opening of INTERNATIONAL airport at TRIVANDRUM” or something similar to that.People have lost intrest in reading this article. Hope u will do the needful.
on December 27th, 2010Air port why not open
on January 8th, 2011The construction of airport terminal 3 was completed in May 2010. Its time to celebrate the first birthday of the airport after 3 months (May 2011). It’s very pity that the airport isn’t inaugurated yet!!! The maintenance section in the airport which started construction after completing the terminal 3 is in it’s final stage.
People in TVM is not Lucky to use the airport as “BRAND NEW”!!! The terminal is now 1 Year old!!!
Hope it will open before opening Kannur Airport.!!!
on January 10th, 2011Achuthananthan and Co are busy with the Kannur airport project. The PM on his part does not even know that there is a new airport awaiting his blessing in Kerala. Will my good brothers from Trivandrum and the Kerala Travel Agents Association join hands to have the present Maharaja of Travancore open this airport.
on January 13th, 2011It was not the government of India that gave Trivandrum its first airport, it was the Thiruvithamcoor Maharaja who gave us the airport. The honour of inaugurating the new airport should be given to the royal house in Kowdiar. Let us forget the Achus and Pinarayis and Jayarajans and others. We have better business at hand.
Why wait for it to be inaugurated. AAI should declare it open and that’s it. Open for the public… All this inauguration business should be stopped once and for all.
on January 25th, 2011Finally – the stage has been set to get the terminal inaugurated by the Prime Minister. Is this light at the end of the tunnel??
on January 31st, 2011PM To Inaugurate T3 On Feb. 12. The confusions over the commissioning of the brand new Terminal 3 of the International Airport, Trivandrum, have come to an end. The higher authority meeting convened by minister M Vijayakumar on Saturday has finalised the inauguration date to be February 12.Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will inaugurate the terminal on the day between 11 am and 12 pm. PM will also inaugurate the Air India hanger unit and will also take part in the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Rajiv Gandhi Civil Aviation academy along with the T3 inauguration. on February 1st, 2011Benoy G is optimistic of the new terminal at Trivandrum International Airport being opened by the Prime Minister on February 12. Keep your fingers crossed my people. He will find another excuse for not being able to make it to Trivandrum.
on February 3rd, 2011Well if he does, it will be a miracle I must say. Good luck to all who come on this site. If not February 12 by the PM, can we look at raising our voices through blogs and other media to get the Thampuran of Travancore to inaugurating the new terminal?
Building, escalator etc are one thing. How the employees manage to maintian and operate it will decide whether it is of good class or not. Let us not call it world class when Changi, Suwarnabhoomi all are just 4 hours away. I know the mentality of Malayali, lazy buggers while in Kerala.(Acknowledge hard working outside Kerala) I did not like the metal sheet luggage conveyors. Energy inefficient and noisy. In this age of green design they should have used belts not steel plates, more of natural lighting and not fluroscent light (remember power shrtage and power cuts in Kerala???) The whole place will look dull with out electric lights. The electricity bill will add to our airport usage fees. Now you all think before jumping in celebration.I am a Trivandrumite living outside Kerala the land of eternal bhands, hartals … God’s own headache!!! Swagatham.
