
Tiruvanathapuram or the city of Anantha as it is known offers a plethora of choices for the religiously inclined. The Hindu, The Christian and the Muslim can all pray to their hearts content here. Going around the city one can see places of worship almost at every nook and corner. I first set my eyes on all the Hindu temples can’t blame cause I am one. If you go from the City center that is Thapanoor where the Bus Terminal and the Railway terminal is located towards Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple you can see the Pazhavangadi Ganapathy Temple. Dedicated to Vinayaga a visit to this temple is a must to remove any obstacles. It is said that all Gulf aspirants before embarking on their voyage makes sure to visit this temple and yes break coconuts hoping that any obstacles will be disappear in as many pieces as how the coconut broke.
Another famous temple located within city limits is the Attukal Sree Bhagavathy Temple. Often known as Women’s Sabarimala it finds mention in the Guiness Book of World records as the world’s largest congregation of women for religious purpose. Pongalas are offered to presiding deity Attukal Amma before days before Pongal.
The Hanuman temple near the Legsaltive Assembly Hall finds itself pouring with devotees maybe to seek the extra strength required to run the government. These temples are definitely within city limits and can be reached within a few minutes from anywhere near the city center.
