Chief Minister V.S Achuthanandan will launch the Technocity – the much awaited Mega project on June 4th, 2010 at 5 pm. This will mark the beginning of another era in Kerala’s especially Trivandrum’s development history.

Honorable  Minister for Law, parliamentary affairs and sports Sri M. Vijayakumar will preside over the function. Dr. Ajay Kumar IAS (principal Sec. IT) will present the report.Opposition leader Sri Oommen Chandy will address the audience.

Technocity is one of its Kind integrated IT township.Technocity envisaged in 451 acres in Pallipuram, 5km North of Technopark campus, will encompass not only cutting edge IT/ITES infrastructure, but also have residential appartments, shopping malls, hospitals, hotels, educational institutions and other support facilities. In addition to IT, the focus areas would be biotechnology, nanotechnology, high end manufacturing and R&D

The project will be developed on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) basis with KSITIL(Kerala State IT Infrastructure Ltd.) holding 26 percent investment. The developer will have to form a `special purpose vehicle’ (SPV) for executing the project. It will be responsible for designing, engineering, financing, construction, marketing and maintenance of the project. The projects will be carried out in three different categories – IT/ITES project of area up to 50 acres, IT/ITES project of area greater than 50 and up to 100 acres and IT/ITES project of area greater than 100 acres.

Two main educational institutions , Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management-Kerala(IIITM-K) and Asian School of Business(ASB)  are being launched soon in Technocity. This project claims to be one of the biggest technology parks in the world with a employing capacity of 2,00,000.
