As per the mapping party website : “ The Mapping party is aimed at increasing awareness of Google’s Mapmaker service with the popular tagline ‘Map Your World’ “. Google’s Mapmaker service lets Google Users become citizen cartographers and improve the quality of maps and local information. The event hopes to make Kerala, particularly Trivandrum a better mapped place with relevant local information such as roads, schools, hospitals, banks and such other important places entered by users, having local knowledge.

Presently, a handful of users have started mapping different parts of Kerala. The event aims to increase the user community to a higher figure thus making Kerala, particularly Trivandrm a completely mapped and popular destination in Google Maps.

The event will show participants how to map different places, draw roads, add categories and discuss other features. Experts in Google Mapmaker will present and enlighten the gathering. Cartographers from Google are also expected at the event.
