Shashi Tharoor Welcomed by Masses in Trivandrum

People of Trivandrum welcomed its crusader Dr. Shashi tharoor with great vigor today.Shashi Tharoor after resigning from the MoE arrived at Trivandrum International Airport by 12:40pm. He was welcomed at the airport by the DCC president Sri Sivakumar and other congress leaders..Large number of people from different parts of life gathered outside the airport with “We support Shashi Tharoor” banners to meet and express there solidarity to their beloved leader.
Apart from congress party workers there were sports personals, young professionals, business men to welcome tharoor at the airport.I happend to see some IT professionals with their laptop carry bags on the shoulder. People raised slogans against IPL chief Lalit Modi and crew.
Dr. Tharoor addressed the gathering outside the airport. He expressed his gratitude to the people of Trivandrum to arrange this kind of welcome and assured that he will continue to work for the development of Kerala especially for Trivandrum.” By seeing this kind of welcome…I feel relaxed..you people are my strength” told ST. Tharoor stated that the allegations against him are baseless and he has not made one paisa from IPL.
Tharoor was then taken to the DCC office at Nandavanam junction to meet the party leaders. He was accompanied by his supporters holding cricket bats and congress flags in Bikes and cars. He was welcomed by party workers with crowns and garlands at major junctions.
The rain gods waited untill he reached the party office..He spend almost an hour at the DCC office meeting the party leaders. Tharoor will attend the UDF coallition meeting at cochin in the evening…

Hopefully he has learnt his lesson and will keep both his lips and his pants zipped up and let his actions do the talking. This is his chance to just do his job and not play to the gallery. Please no more stirring rhetoric – show us the change.

People, across the political spectrum, had voted for him, not looking at his personality, but with hope that he would be the only person who could deliver.

We had seen lot of such ‘receptions’ to politicians when they are in trouble.

Majority of people who was there are congress workers.(the banners shows it)
Rest belongs to various cricket associations (coming with bats).
And the claim is that it is the Trivandrum “masses”.

If you are a very rich politician or belongs to a strong party like CPI(M) or Congress, you can organize 100 receptions like this.
on April 27th, 2010@Narendran, I would say otherwise, one of our editors was at the venue and he was able to meet a lot of techies, professionals and educated normal people like you and me unlike the usual mass rallies.
on April 28th, 2010Reception to Mr. Tharoor cannot be considered as a political gimmick – expecially as we all know the resentment when he was made the candidate. People of Trivandrum really look forward to him for a better Trivandrum.
