Shankumugham Beach

The Shankumugham Beach is a clean and beautiful beach in the District of Trivandrum and lying to the west of the city. The calm and serene beach is an excellent place for an evening stroll. The airport is located near to the beach and so is the airport of the southern Air command of the Indian Air Force. The Indian Coffee House and the Star Fish Restaurant offer catering services. There is a childen’s park by the name Jawaharlal Nehru Park. There is also a skating school and adjacent to it is an indoors stadium providing facilities for Badminton and Table Tennis. Recently the beach was spruced up and cleaning works were undertaken to beautify the beach .Walkways for the pedestrians were also built along with the cleaning project. There is a giant sculpture of Jalakanyaka sculpted by the noted Malayalam Sculptor Kanayi Kunhiraman which adds attraction to the beach. Provisions for car parking and open air theater can also be found at the beach.
