Welcome one and all for the screening of Byari, the winner of national award for the best film of 2011.
This is the first-ever film made in ‘Byari’ language, spoken mainly by people in the coastal regions of north Kerala and Dakshina Kannada district. This film focuses on a society trapped in their own faiths and beliefs. It also highlights strict laws and regulations of marriage in the community, pros and cons of divorce in Islam and how it affects the women.
Actress Mallika got a special mention from the National Jury for her performance in the film.Popular Malayalam actor Mamukkoya appears in a “very serious negative role” in the film as her father.
This screening is followed by the opening forum by the Director, Suveeran. The event is sponsored by Prathi Dhawni and will be screened at Park Center, on 26th of April, at 5:30 p.m.
