Four-laning of Thiruvananthapuram – Kanyakumari Highway! The existing NH 47 has become congested, so National Highways Authority of India has decided to lay 53.70 km-long four-lane stretch at a cost of Rs. 654 crore. A public opinion was drawn out on the proposed four-lane project. The district administration convened a public hearing on the project at the Collectorate with Collector Rajendra Ratnoo in chair, on Friday.
National Highways Authority of India and district administration conducted surveys separately and according to them, the proposed project will not affect any endangered fauna and flora. The highway will originate from Kazhakottam near Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala and end at Kanyakumari via Karode on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border, Sungankadai, Nagercoil, Suchindram and Kottaram. Will the authorities consider the public opinion is a matter of question!

on August 24th, 2009thats better. i hope people do get a chance to share their opinion about the design and not just fret about the road passing through their property.
on August 24th, 2009It is very very important that the 4-lane highway comes up immediately. It is very important for the development of Trivandrum International Airport. People from the Southern part of Tamil Nadu use Trivandrum airport, and many are complaining that reaching the airport is a mightmare.
