
Ponmudi Hills which means the Golden Hills is an extension of the Western Ghats and is located in the District of Trivandrum. At a distance of 61 kilometers from Trivandrum the journey to Ponmudi offers a panoramic view of the nearby hills and peaks. The place is calm and serene and is of interest for those who are interested in tropical vegetation. Wildlife is abundant around the hills. The hill is at an altitude of 910 meters and is parallel to the Arabian Sea. The place is abound with a number of rapids and rivulets. Meenmutty falls and Agaystyarkoodam Peak ( the highest in the district) are other attractions the Agastyarkoodam peak can be accessed only if permission is granted by the forest department. Other attractions include Motta Peak which is a haven for trekking , a deer park and the surrounding tea and coffee plantations.
