Thursday morning the city woke up to heavy traffic snarls at PMG junction and LMS junction. The new traffic system was implemented unscientifically. Police and road authorities sweated out like anything to resolve the crisis. It took almost a day to understand the traffic chaos as the people had been totally confused in the morning. Later in the evening the authorities put up signboards at strategic points. The lack of signboards at the Netaji Park Circle created a lot of problems as the vehicles coming from the PMG side towards Statue were confused on which route to take.
The bus stop in front of the Mascot Hotel was another major hurdle. It created major traffic blocks. Soon, the police decided not to allow any bus to stop there. At the end, the bus stops in front of the Mascot Hotel were relocated and also signboards and signal points were installed. This brought about some relief. By Monday, we can expect there will be no more traffic snarls in the city, hopefully.
