National Live Stock Show and Food Fest in Trivandrum

Department of animal husbandry, diary development, food and civil supplies, legal metrology and allied public sector undertakings is organizing a national livestock show and food festival at Kanakakunnu palace from July 23rd to 27. The main objective of the festival is to show case the technological advance in agriculture industry.
Events include exhibitions of cattle from different states, pet birds and ornamental fishes, cultural pageantry, Gaja mela (Elephant Show) and calf rally .The main attraction of the festival is the food festival showcasing ethnic food .Seminars on legal metrology, poultry, and veterinary health care will be conducted in this five day event by experts. .Various competitions including painting competition, quizzes will be conducted .Every department of the state government will be putting up a stall as part of the event.
Chief Minister VS Achuthanathan will inaugurate the festival in presence of union and state ministers. A website has been opened to attract international visitors and to update the event news. View the website by clicking here

on July 26th, 2010I am a resident of Trivandrum who is living very near to Kanakakkunnu where the show is happening.
It was a very pathetic scene to look at the road between Museum Police station and Surykanthi gate yesterday evening. The whole place was littered with waste papers, plastic bottles and food wastes. Is this the way Trivandrum people treat public places? It is a SHAME to Trivandrum and the the so called ‘hygiene’ of Malayalees. I have seen the cleaning staff of corporation struggling to clean the place today morning. Can’t the authorities place some waste bins there?
Please, somebody take this up, and save the face of kerala.
