The Magic Academy is organizing  the world’s first woman magicians’ Convention on 30th May, 2010 at Magic Academy, Poojappura, Trivandrum. The theme is ‘Equal Rights, Equal Opportunities : Progress for all’. The event that would mark the 14th anniversary of the Academy gives prominence to female presence in the world of magic.

World’s no. 1 woman magician, Luna Shimada has confirmed her presence with family for  Maya 2010. She will offer a daytime class for her counterparts and an evening gala performance.Luna learnt her magic lessons from her  father the legendary Japanese magician Shimada. Her entry into magic was at the age of 12, as an assistant to her father. Luna will be accompanied by her husband Dirk Losander, who is widely described as the emperor of the art of levitation, and their eight-year-old daughter Tara for this unique event.

Another attraction of  Maya 2010 is that all categories are exclusively reserved for woman magicians.  Besides regular Stage and Close-up categories, there will be Kitchen Magic, a thoroughly new section for the contestants. In this category, they have to appear in the guise of a typical Indian housewife and work magic using more kitchen utensils and vegetables than common magic equipments.One of the jury members is a female.

Male magicians can also attend the event,but not in duo or as trios. In each  group of two or members, one of them should be a female leader.Groups comprising of two or more participants must be led by a female magician.
