LEAP KERALA MISSION launch on August 16

The official announcement of launching of Kerala state life long education and awareness programme, “ LEAP Kerala Mission “ will be carried out in a function to be held at Vazhuthacaud women’s college auditorium on august 16 at 3 PM. Honorable Chief minister V.S Achuthanathan will announce the commencement of the mission and will officially inaugurate the mission which will be presided over by Education Minister M.A Baby.
Kerala has always been in the front , when related to literacy. Since Kerala had a high literacy rate , The central government stopped providing funds to the state literacy mission. As a result of this the state government has started the Life long education and Awareness programme (LEAP ).LEAP is not just a usual literacy programme. It aims at drastic changes in the literacy programmes with emphasis on job-oriented training and better awareness.The programme will primarily include skill development, vocational training, income generation and improvement of quality of life besides attainment of total primary education. The learners will also be given grace consideration for their achievements in ethnic skills and crafts. Another feature of the programme is that all adults, barring age limit, who have the physical and mental ability for learning can enroll for the programme.
Ministers and political leaders will attend the the event which is expected to be a turning point in Kerala literacy mission .
