Kerala Open University in Trivandrum from next year

From the next academic year, the proposed Kerala Open University (KOU) would start functioning. The introduction of ‘credit and semester system’ demanded the need for an Open University. All distance education programmes being offered by the State’s various universities would remain in place, till the KOU is fully operational. State Education Minister M A Baby said, the government would soon take necessary steps to set up the Open University and this would start functioning in phases.
