Kbase Knowledge Learning Management System Inaugurated

The Knowledge / learning management system for the Directorate of Technical education to support the creation, organization, storage, dissemination and preservation of digital information assets of its Engineering colleges and polytechnics was inaugurated by the Honourable Minister of Education and Culture Sri. M.A. Baby at the College of Engineering Trivandrum on 17th March 2010. A one day training programme for the faculty and staff from all the Engineering colleges and polytechnics was arranged along with the inauguration.
Dr. Ciza Thomas, Administrator, Kbase presented the project overview. Kbase is most essentially an organizational commitment to the stewardship of its digital materials, including long – term preservation where appropriate, as well as organization and access or distribution. It functions as a platform that allows one to capture items in any format namely text, video, audio and data and distributes it over the web. it indexes the work for users to search and retrieve the items.

on March 19th, 2010It is expected to take three months to complete implementation of the institutional repository and one complete semester to upload the course materials for the commisioning of the e-learning system
