Fete de la Musique is a music, fun-filled event hosted by Alliance De Francaise on June 19th,2010 from 3-8pm….Now, a question arises, what is ‘Fete de la Musique’??
La Fete de la Musique/World Music Day is a festival that celebrates music by all kinds of musicians (children, adults, amateurs and professionals). It was kick-started in France on 21 June 1982 to celebrate the first day of summer, La Fete de la Musique has been celebrated actively, since then every year in more than 100 countries.
This festival is aimed at bringing music closer to people. In France, on this day, sidewalks, parks, community gardens, stores and more become impromptu musical stages for both amateur and professional musicians to showcase their talents. All concerts and performances are free and open to the public.It also aims at making different genres of music accessible to the public. This is the 29th edition of Fête de la Musique. It is evident from this festival itself that music knows no boundaries.
This year’s theme is ‘Women in Music’, thus focusing on the creativity, determination and the struggles that women in music goes through. A number of programmes are lined up for the event like games, quiz and workshop around music. The celebration also presents an oppurtunity to showcase ones musical talent. Registration for the event is open till 15th June.The openings are limited. Registration will be on first come basis. Hurry guyzz….its on a Saturday!!!
