The banglore based Christ University has opened its first nodal office at vazhuthacaud . The nodal office was inaugurated on September 4 by the Vice Chancellor of the University Dr. Fr. Thomas Chathamparampil.The university has made a mark at the national level with an emphasis on research and this nodal office would contribute in this effort and towards the development of research in India.

Christ University has set up an extension campus at Kengeri, on the outskirts of Bangalore and is in the process of setting up off campuses at Lavasa, near Pune and Gaziabad, once the regulations from UGC are in place. The university has 12,000 students in various pre to post degree courses.

An online library will also be launched  later this year. This office would function as a knowledge centre for any research activities. Researchers would be able to use  Online Library which will be connected to the Christ University Library at Bangalore to access about 15,000 journals and books for reference.  The researchers can continue their research studies in by accessing all the resources from the Bangalore campus.

Starting as Christ College in 1969, the college affiliated to Bangalore University became the most preferred educational institution in the city of Bangalore within the first three decades. It has the rare distinction to be the first institution in Karnataka to be accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) UGC for quality education. In 2004, UGC conferred Autonomy to Christ College. In 2005, it became the first College in South India to be reaccredited with A+ by NAAC. It was in 2008 that the Union HRD Ministry declared it a Deemed to be University, in the name and style of Christ University.

Prof. J Subramanyam, Registrar, Christ University; M I Shanavas, MP; K P Somarajan, DGP and Alphose Erayil, DGP were among those present on the occasion.
