Trivandrum to get biggest mall soon

Trivandrum’s biggest mall to be opened soon at Thampanoor on land owned by the Kerala State Industrial Enterprise Limited (KSIE). This commercial complex will come up on the 1.27 cres of land along the S S Kovil Road. This project will be implemented jointly by the KSIE along with Infrastructure Kerala Limited (inkel). This complex would have an area of two lakh square feet with ample car parking. This proposed project is an eleven storey tower with separate access for the retail and the office areas. This complex would contain shopping mall, food court and premium office space.

The first, second and third floors will offer the prime shopping space, which could be divided into convenient allocations as per the requirements of the end users. Like the other malls across the state, this mall would be fully air-conditioned and provided with an escalator leading to upper floors along with service lifts and passenger lifts. The fourth floor will have dining and entertainment facilities; food court along with kids play area and kids shop. The fourth floor would also have an amphitheatre for performing arts as an attraction to the shopping mall, thereby adding entertainment to shopping and creating a multiplex experience.

Rest of the floors is designed to have premium offices including the KSIE office. A separate entrance and exit will be provided for the floors accommodating the shopping mall so as to avoid mixing of shoppers and office-goers. The car parking facilities on the lower two floors would accommodate around 175 cars. The project is estimated to be completed within a period of two years from now.

Onam Fair is here and this time its rich in variety

The festival of prosperity and happiness is at the doorsteps, and its shopping time. There is good news for all shopaholics in the city who are really tired of seeing the same old stuff turning up in fair after fair. What makes this fair different is that it has packed in so much variety, that too in adequate amount only. I bet that you would be taken in so much by the displayed items that you would definitely wish if at all a little space was provided for the artisans and craftsmen. Each stall has something different to offer. You can find the pride of Kerala in the form of Balaramapuram traditional sarees, Aranmula mirror, etc on one hand and paintings done on velvet clothes and meenakari painting works done using gold with needle, by the artists of Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir.

For those who have addiction to imported marble crockery, crockery items are brought from Pakistan and Italy. Wooden Jewellery boxes made with kundan touch, traditional Kashmiri carpets and wall hangings, bags and wallets made out of sheep leathers, traditional hookahs, kettles, paper mache works and etc are also kept for sale. Honey and Dates Festival

I am pretty sure that the taste and smell of the jackfruit and mangoes are still wandering in your minds, this time get ready to binge on honey and dates. Honey-Dates Festival would kick off from August 3^rd and it will prevail for a week at the Bhagyamala Auditorium at Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium. This event is organized by the Prakruthi Arogya Samrakshana Vichara Vedi with an aim to propogate the quality and goodness of original honey and dates to the public and also helping people realize medicinal facts and provide the real medicinal honey.

This festival will showcase a wide variety of honey with medicinal values which could check obesity, fever and cold. This event will also showcase various honey products and imported dates from different parts of the globe. A variety of flavours of date and honey products will also be available in this event. Various kinds of honeybees like Mellifera and Cerana including various indigenous species will be shown.

Mango festival at Trivandrum till 26th of June

Hey peeps, its time for some mangoing. The mango food festival is here in town. The event is a joint venture of Kerala Horticulture Mission with Mango Growers Association started yesterday and will be around here till 26^th of this month at Kanakakunnu Palace Grounds.The fest timings will be from 10 am to eve 9 pm.

The event is expected to portray around thousands of vareties of mangoes,which was cultivated in variuos parts of the country. Although its nearly impossible to taste them all, you can have look at them all. Each of them with different colours,tate and sizes .

Apart from different mangoes, the various mango products like jams, pickles, mango drinks etc will also be on the showcase. So if u ever happen to drop by Trivandrum in these 11 days, do go to the fest. It will indeed be a time worth spending

National Trade Festival begins today !!!

The State Government-sponsored National Trade Festival begins today at the Putharikandam Maidan and will end by January 2, 2011. The festival is expected to have around 250 stalls. Food festival, cultural rallies, seminars, conventions and various competitions will be held as part of the festival. There will be separate pavilions for various Government Departments. Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan will inaugurate the festival at 5.30 p.m. Asian Games medal winners will also be honored during the function.

A rally will be taken out from the Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium at 3 p.m prior to the inaugural function. The trade and food festival is being jointly organised by the Departments of Food, Civil Supplies, Animal Husbandry, Poultry Development, Legal Metrology and Milma. Apart from the State’s traditional foods, tandoori, chinese and continental foods will be offered by leading hotel groups.

For the first time Trivandrum is hosting exhibition cum sale on decors and home interiors. The event is organized by a chennai based exporters Decor In. The exhibition will highlight fabulous collections of home decors. The exhibition is held at Women’s Club Kowdiar on December 11, 12 and December 17, 18 & 19.
