Aircraft maintenance base in Trivandrum

aircrftAir India’s (AI) aircraft maintenance base to be commissioned here by year-end. It is a joint venture of the AI and the U.S.-based aircraft manufacturer Boeing. The base is being set up near the upcoming international airport terminal on the Chakka side.

The structure for the maintenance base is coming up on 6.07 hectares of land and is being constructed at a cost of Rs. 70 crore. Flooring and other works are going on in full swing. A parallel taxiway will also be constructed and the work has been entrusted to the Airports Authority of India. The base is being set up by Air-India Engineering Services. The airline hopes that more airlines in the country and abroad, especially the Gulf, would arrive here once the base is commissioned.
