Kalavara Resturant: Good Food in Trivandrum Series

Posted by neeths On January - 29 - 2010 4 COMMENTS

Image0007Hi to all! Hope I didn’t keep you waiting too long. Well here is my next review. Kalavara is a family restaurant located @ Kowdiar next to FabIndia and the Tennis Club. The restaurant is a small one but its well set up with beautifully arranged cabins which gives one their private space. The place is perfectly lighted and the walls are decorated with beautiful paintings.

The service is nice and doesn’t keep you waiting for your order and yet you needn’t hurry. I do agree the menu card looks pretty boring but like the old saying goes don’t judge a restaurant by its menu ;) The food is amazing! DONT  forget to try out the KFC….dont get led on …its not the KENTUCKY FRIED CHICKEN  but the KALAVARA FRIED CHCICKEN  but its definitely finger lickin good!

The price on the menu card looks pretty high but so does the quantity.Yup, its definitely stomach filling and tasty and the bill then seems reasonable so be sure when you order.

Oh how could i forget the fried rice is also yummm………(a personal fav)

So get going…..try the menu and let me know your experience here.

Adios until I come up with my next review…..

Happy eating!!

Oasis Hotel: Good food in Trivandrum Series

Posted by neeths On January - 27 - 2010 2 COMMENTS

I am a new contributor to Triviandrum Buzz and I wanted to begin my posts with something which is useful to everyone. After much pondering, I decided I would write about everyone’s favourite topic – Food!

As someone who regularly goes out to have food, this series aims to cover some of my favourite places to eat in Trivandrum city.

Image0004First up in the series is Oasis hotel, which is located in Kedaram, one of the oldest shopping complexes (mall?) in Kesavadasapuram, Trivandrum. If you are on the lookout for a silent place to have lunch or dinner with your loved ones then you needn’t look further. Its known for its quiet ambience and ear soothing music. The cusine itself is wide ranged and the prices are pretty reasonable too. The one thing I personally like about this place is that you could do your shopping and when you are done(dead tired) you could just go and have a cup of coffee or even a nice spicy birayini (as per ur stomach’s grumbles). But I would also not recommend this place if you are really hungry as their serving times for some food items are slow.

The specialities at  Oasis are their speciality food festivals and their cutlets which is a MUST try out.

So, Happy eating foodies, until I return with yet another resturant review. :)

P.S: Sorry for the single dim photo. :D Will really appreciate if you guys can contribute a few pics after you make a trip to Oasis Food Court :)

2005052400790101Ustad Dilshad Khan and Begum Parveen Sultana took the humble population of Trivandrum to another plane with their heavenly rendition of  hindustani classical music.  The audience was spell bound for over two hours. They palyed a total of five selections including tow bhajans.

The renditions were in raga Hamsadwani, Misrbhairavi among others. Well I am a novice as far as Hindustani Music is concerned but I do have a good ear. Begum Perveen Sultana was sheer magic. The way she captures the top saptak and sings a taan over it, God it was heavenly .

Those taranas and bhajans what more could I ask for……..

To Strike or Not To – is the Question ;)

Private bus owners in the state will stop services for an indefinite period from January 5. The bus operators called for the strike in protest against the government’s inaction in solving the problems facing the industry.

I saw this interesting poster at the back of a KSRTC bus in the city today.

ksrtc strikes

The first one calling for a strike of ksrtc employees by AITUC and the adjacent one stating that KSRTC employees wont strike on january 5th by CITU
