Kovalam is a beautiful seaside town known for its beautiful beaches. It is 13 kilometers from Trivandrum by Road.  Kovalam literally means grove of coconut tress. The place came into prominence as a tourist destination in t he early 30’s made possible by the then Maharaja of Travancore. The town came into the world spotlight as a tourist destination with the arrival of the hippies during the 70’s.
