Kovalam

Kovalam is a beautiful seaside town known for its beautiful beaches. It is 13 kilometers from Trivandrum by Road. Kovalam literally means grove of coconut tress. The place came into prominence as a tourist destination in t he early 30’s made possible by the then Maharaja of Travancore. The town came into the world spotlight as a tourist destination with the arrival of the hippies during the 70’s. Formerly a fishing village the town derives a substantial amount of income from tourism. Three crescent shaped beaches with the shallow waters stretching for hundreds of meters into the sea make this place idealistic for a swim in the sea.
Palm trees lining the beach providing shade and adds to the charm of the place. The three beaches are the Hawa Beach, Light House Beach and the Samudra Beach. Facilities for lodging and dining are plenty with several star hotels dotting the shoreline. The seaport of Vizhingam is just three kilometers away from Kovalam. The place is known for temples, churches and is a major fishing port. Kovalam is now a major tourist attraction attracting tourists from all over the world. The place is bustling with tourist and related activities and is must for everyone destined for Kerala.





Located at PMG junction, Trivandrum in the premises of the science and technology museum, the Priyadarshini Planetarium is one of the best of its kind in the country. The planetarium was thrown open to the public in 1994. It is a horizontal domed planetarium and has a seating capacity of 184 persons. Various shows are hosted related with science and technology the most prominent one being thew man and the Universe.
